Acorn Cottages are set on a peaceful 50 acre smallholding in the scenic Champagne Valley of the central Drakensberg, 19kms from Winterton, with views of the majestic Cathkin and Champagne mountains. This is the perfect place to simply unwind and destress and there are revitilising walks and hikes to Monks Cowl, Cathedral Peak, Giants Castle and Injesuthi. There are wonderful Bushman paintings to be viewed in the vicinity plus the only San museum in the world. Facilities: Cottages are fully equiped including towels etc. - your comfort is guaranteed. The units consist of two large bedrooms, each en suite. The double bedroom has a bath, shower, toilet and basin while the room with 2 single beds has a shower toilet and basin. Each cottage sleeps 4 very comfortably but extra beds or cot are available on request. The central area has a lounge with TV and fireplace, a dining area and fully equipped kitchen. The cottages are separated by a communal braai area. All towels and linen are supplied. In winter electric blankets, oil heaters and hot water bottles are also available while fans are supplied in summer. Activities: During the day in our immediate area enjoy horseriding, fishing, walks, hikes (19km away), falconry, white water rafting, bushman paintings (25km) bird watching, local crafts, golf, bowls, Drakensberg Boys Choir School Concerts. Do a 1/2 or full day trip to Amphitheatre, Northern Drakensberg Area, Cathedral Peak, Injusuti, Giants Castle - famous for bushman paintings, the battlefields route, visit Spioenkop Game Reserve and Winterton Village and Museum. When you are pleasantly tired in the evening choose from 2 restuarants or 6 hotels for evening meals, or braai at your cottage while you plan your next day - we are happy to assist you with this be it a local outing or offer you advice if you are travelling onwards. Durban - N3 to Estcourt North, Giants Castle, proceed to 4 way intersection with Thokosisa Mountain Cafe on left continue along R600 to right turn towards Cayley Lodge - D53, turn right onto the D277 and follow this road without turning until you see our sign and gates.
